Victor Phillips, M.D.—Medical Informatics, Physician Consultant...

What do you do?

I help business create innovative products and services in the area of Digital Health Technology. Some may call this area Medical Informatics or Healthcare Informatics.

Now you may be saying to yourself, ‘I’m listening, but, tell me more.’

In a nutshell, a Digital Health Technologist is a person who works with technology by applying to health. They may have a background in the healthcare field.

Innovator. He or she builds, develops and grows digital health products and services. For instance, mobile health (mHealth), sensor technologies, health information technology (IT), wearable devices, smart fabrics, tele-health and telemedicine, and personalized medicine.

I care about our health care system but, let’s face it there are a lot of problems that can be solved more efficiently. We witnessed many examples of this during COVID-19.

We need more efficient uses of technology, and new models of innovation. Models that reach, and serve patients between visits while they are on their journeys, not another ‘me too’ application. The challenge is the status quo and healthcare—delivery mechanisms haven’t changed since the dawn of time.

I build systems, products and services that lower costs, improve efficiency and capacity, increase revenue and wildly increase patient compliance—business operations, technical systems, strategy, data, regulation.

Health Applications

mHealth is one of example of the types of applications that can be developed, but, there are others based on need like COVID outbreak detection or remote patient monitoring.

Vertical SaaS

Role based applications that are developed based on a particular workflow. Software can be tailored to meet the needs of a specialist, an administrator or a home health nurse with IT-enabled software.

Embedded Systems

Connecting with various systems has been challenging in healthcare. Embedded Systems make it easier to interface with systems that are in place.
